llia was born into a military family in St. Petersburg. While he showed interest in mathematics and other sciences at school, when he grew up Ilya realised that he had his own way in life and he was going to be an artist instead of following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps.
Ilya studied the works of great masters in the best museums of St. Petersburg. As a result, he got admitted into the Russian Academy of Arts where, thanks to his outstanding abilities and hard work, throughout all his years of study Ilya was always the best student and was given a chance to hold his first exhibition in the Academy.
From his works it is evident that Ilya possesses great skill and talent. He knows the technique and the structure of the composition very well and has a wide and easy style of painting using the pasty techniques and glazes. He also has vast experience in painting outside which he acquired in numerous trips around Italy.
Ilia is a painter who works in oil, soft pastel and charcoal.
This retreat is for artists who would like to learn a unique approach to figurative and portrait drawing. Valeria started painting in her childhood, she grew up in a family of famous Russian artists. She graduated the Herzen's
University and, finally to the Russian Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, where she was admitted as among the top five entrants.
In the Academy, Valeria constantly improved her skills, attending classes of outstanding artists and teachers of the Academy – Nikolay Blokhin and Vladimir Pesikov.
Valeria visited Italy many times, studying the works of great masters, copying some of them in the halls of museums, and also improving the technique of painting in the
open air. Valeria's works are distinguished by an easy at the same time dynamic drawing, subtle, almost Serov's coloristic in painting and an amazing spirituality that emphasizes not only beauty, but also the fragility of the modern world.
Valeria is a painter who works in all mediums but mostly in oil, soft pastel, charcoal. Her plein air paintings are both figurative and expressive, while her portrait and still life work are completely lifelike in a romantic realism. Her strengths are in her masterful knowledge of drawing, technique, color theory, & composition.
